Launching a campaign in Google Merchant Center
In this case, we will tell you how, after launching an ad, we undeservedly got a Google Ads account ban, spent a lot of time looking for a solution, and achieved the removal of the block with the help of hard work and persistence.
We only need to organize the technical launch: the client planned to deal with campaign management and efficiency improvement on his own. Well, the task is quite simple, we have done it more than once, and problems have arisen only once in 5 years of practice.
You must meet all Google Merchant requirements for your site, products, and ads. You can read more about them in the official help.
Briefly about how to run an ad in Google Merchant:
- Create a product fid (file with a list of products).
- Change the fid for clemency and rules
- Get a feed from Google Merchant.
- Pass moderation.
- Start a Google Ads campaign.
Blocking Google Merchant and Google Ads account
We received the first bank from Google Merchant with the wording "Distortion of facts". If you have corrected everything, you can start advertising.
However, Google's support service does not give direct answers to the question "what to change on the site to pass moderation." In response to the request, employees send a link to the Help, which also does not contain specific answers, only general instructions. Here it is important to note that Google's help is not exhaustive and the solution may be outside the described scenarios.
After a short period of time, we received a second ban, this time from Google Ads. And this was very bad news: in 99% of cases, blocking means that the account has come to an end. The reason for the ban is very serious violations, such as an attempt to sell prohibited goods or services: weapons, drugs, prostitution. And in such cases, Google does not allow you to simply correct the error and wait for the moderation to be repeated.
The only way to remove the ban is to file an appeal against the blocking decision. In it, it is necessary to carefully describe the situation and try to prove that you did not commit any violations.
So, after 3 appeals and 0 bug fixes on the site, the problem was completely resolved. The whole process took about 2.5 months.
Results
- Google may not respond to your emails for some reasons. Therefore, do not hesitate: write again if the first letter was not answered. Do not give up, even if there is no response after several emails.
- Google Ads may be blocked by mistake. Account blocking is not a 100% guarantee that Google is correct.
- Do not create new accounts after being blocked. This is considered a violation and new accounts may be automatically blocked.
- Check the information on your site very carefully. Even small mistakes can lead to a Google Merchant ban.
- It is better to contact specialists with this question immediately
The Google Merchant system is considered separate from Google Ads, but they are closely related. They share the same moderation department, and Google Merchant product ads run through Google Ads.
